Faye Chatzi: A Living Thread Between Past and Present
A Greek artisan, textile artist, and experimental archaeologist, Faye Chatzi is dedicated to
reviving the ancient art of weaving. Rooted in deep research and close collaboration with
archaeologists, her work brings to life techniques practiced in the Cyclades over 7,000 years ago.
Each creation is made entirely by hand—without electricity or digital tools—using traditional
instruments such as the spindle, the distaff, and the upright loom. This commitment to
authenticity, paired with a refined artistic vision, results in textiles that are both culturally
significant and contemporary. Her pieces have been exhibited in major museums across Greece
and internationally, honoring heritage through craftsmanship.
